Year of the Dragon

The year of the dragon has come and gone, and it was probably our most fun year yet. We bypassed the sweaty outdoor extravaganza downtown and opted for our own Chinese New Year party at home, complete with red jello and hong baos filled the small coins left around the house.

Sojo's Chinese New Year present from us was a very special Chinese treasure chest. I have been searching for some time now for a unique piece in which to put Sojo's adoption clothes and special keepsakes. I love it.

In the Swing of Things

We said goodbye to Nie Nie this week after a fantastic visit. The week after family leaves is always so strange--extra quiet with a tinge of melancholy as we get back into the swing of our own rhythm.

And somehow it's the weekend again. Really, is there anything better than hanging out on the kitchen counter reading Gerald and Piggie while mama makes pancakes? I think not.

Beach Time

Dale's mom is here visiting us, and while she and Dale took off to see Angkor Wat for a few days last week, that left us with more time to play during our last week of vacation. We headed to a nearby beach called Rayong and stayed in a glorious condo for three nights. This is our new thing to do when we travel with more than just us--it provides so much more quality time than two separate hotel rooms.

We frolicked in the absolutely perfect ocean and pool temperature, we soaked up the ocean breeze, drank wine as the sun went down and were pretty darned relaxed. It was the perfect way to end the vacation.

Or it was the perfect start to the year 2012, depending how you look at it.
