Spontaneity

This stage of development and its fierce creativity is so fun for all of us. Sojo decided the other night to put on a spontaneous cello concert on the back porch for all her stuffed animals. It was quite a production as lots of friends came, and she belted out her rendition of Rudolph while strumming the 'cello.' The next afternoon, I overheard her playing with friends and asking them, "Who wants to play the cello now?" Suddenly, I had this vision of Sojo lugging around a cello twice her size in a few years. Made me smile to see more proof that this kid is so completely her own person at such a wee age.

Wedding Shoes

It is fair to say that our sweet girl is very in touch with the traditional boy stuff of robots and dinosaurs. Normally, dolls and princesses fall in the 'blech!' category for her. I'll refrain from going on about how this can be quite embarrassing in public when someone decides to call her a princess. Let's just say she is honest and 'blech!' is often her response.

So when she does tap into the girly-girl side, we try and support it the best we can to give her some balance. And sparkles are definitely on the radar for her; she can spot them from across the room of late. Take these fabulous golden princess shoes that she simply had to have at the mall. Since she will be one of the flower girls in my brother's wedding this upcoming summer, they have become her fancy tiny-heeled wedding shoes. What cracked me up was when we were on the playground the other day, and she wanted to show the shoes to her friend Stella, who loves princess stuff. Stella literally gasped when she saw the shoes Sojo bought. Guess all of us were a bit shocked with the purchase.

Rock-n-Roll Painting

A friend went to Sojo's school the other day and snapped this photo of her adding to the class mural. I love, love, love getting a small peek into her day, almost as much as I love that she is choosing to wear her snazzy rock-n-roll hat to school.

Arizona Beauty

In light of the recent tragedy in Arizona, I thought it would be appropriate to share the stunningly beautiful side of this gorgeous state. A trip to Sabino Canyon on our last day was the perfect way to end a great trip. Dale and I decided to run the route while Sojo and my parents took the tram. We met at the top and soaked up the beauty while sipping hot cocoa before heading back down.

The trip was full of family and love and scootering and bacon--all good stuff and truly what's all about (bacon included on that statement). Worth every second of the way-too-long airplane ride.
And this one--it is all about the sequins after the Arizona trip. Love it!
